Owner – Chief Photographer
Chris sold his first picture in 1992 after having learned to use a camera photographing people doing things they should not have been doing. (Chris was a private investigator fresh out of the University of Kansas.) Eventually Chris had developed two very diverse specialties; Sports and Real Estate Photography.
While living in Suburban Maryland (outside Washington, DC) Chris worked with many different youth sports leagues photographing thousands of children for their action sports photos as well as their individual and team portraits.
Chris also photographed (literally) thousands of homes for sale for the Washington, DC area MLS back in the 1990′s.
While continuing to build his photography business and resume Chris also worked at Eagle Eye Photo in Bethesda, Maryland. Eagle Eye was a high end custom one hour photo lab that catered to professional photographers and amateur photographers that cared about consistency and quality in their pictures that they chose to have printed.
Eventually Chris and his family chose to move back to the middle west. For three years in Tulsa and for the first few years back here in the Kansas City area (arrived back home in 2004) Chris worked as a real estate agent, putting to work all he learned as a real estate photographer. Meanwhile, Chris would work by request as a professional photographer.
But alas, once a photographer, always a photographer. It just gets in you. Photography consumes you. And so, on November 1, 2008 Chris opened for business Portraits Today Studios in Olathe, Kansas.
Portraits Today Studios is a family-oriented professional portrait studio geared towards providing same-day, quality and affordable photography services to the people and growing family of the Kansas City area.
Chris’ work has appeared in The Washington Post and numerous national trade magazines. But mostly, Chris’ work hangs in the living rooms and dens of people just like you.
