THE POINT
To have fun with pet photography!  Bring in your pet cats, dogs, turtles, birds, rabbits, mosquitos (no, never mind, we hate mosquitos!) or whatever and we’ll offer you special pricing on our portrait sheets AND we’ll waive our normal pet sitting fee.

SPECIAL PRICING
All portrait sheets purchased that have your pet included in them will only be $9.95 each.  That’s it.  If you buy more than 6 sheets (our Bronze Star at $69.95) that will save you about $10.  If you get our Silver Star package (regularly priced at $89) we’ll give you 15% off.  If you go for the Gold Star we’ll just make it a flat $99.00.  That’s a savings of $26.00!  And you get all else that’s included.  Wow!

But again, you could just get one or two sheets at $9.95.  This supposed to be for fun. 

Our normal pet sitting fee of $10 for the first critter and $7 for each additional is going to be waived for all of July.

THE CONTEST
Here is where it’s gonna get crazy.  If you ask us, we’ll post your favorite pet photo on our Portraits Today Studios facebook page.  You then vote for your own photo, get all of your family and friends to vote, and then we decide the winners on or about August 2nd.  Winners will be decided by most votes.  There will be prizes for First, Second, Third and Runner Up.

Stay tuned for the prize list.  But expect some goodies…like a $50.00 Gas Card to QuikTrip.   Anybody want any free chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A of Olathe?   And we’ll come up with some more…we promise.

Dog Days of Summer – All July long!
This is will be a most fun pet portrait event.  Animal photography usually carries with it a $10 sitting fee for the first pet.  In July we are waiving the pet sitting fee and having a Cutest Pet Contest as well as each portrait sheet being only $10.00 if the pet is included!  More to follow.

Contest Rules
This contest begins immediately and runs through May 16, 2011.  So you have some time to put together a great picture.  One picture per person, please.  You must post your photo to our Portraits Today Studios facebook page. And then get your friends and family to vote for you by either leaving a comment or “Liking” the photo.

The photo should pertain to Spring.  After that, it’s up to you.  People can be involved.  Or not.  Be creative.  Think about the picture you are making and make it happen! (Fine Print:  The photo must also be tasteful and suitable for a family portrait studio to have on display.)

The Grand Prize Winner will be judged by the staff at Portraits Today Studios based on creativity, composition, quality and…well, heck, just because we may like it.  Portraits Today Studios (PTS) is the sole determiner of the Grand Prize.  Runner Up and Third Place will automatically go to the highest vote getters as calculated by PTS.  (Remember, the more people that comment or like your photos the better your odds.)  And Honorable Mentions may be either high vote getters, or PTS just likes the picture, or a combination of both.

Fun
People, this is supposed to be fun.  Get those cameras out of the bags and into your hands.  Drive down the road or walk through a park looking for a great Spring Picture.  Get the family involved.  Teach the kids how to use the camera.  Heck, they can win if they enter. You just never know.

COMMENTS
We just loved Anny’s picture of the young girl trying to catch snowflakes on her tongue.  The composition, the color…just everything.  Congrats on a great photo.

So many of the other photos brought smiles to our faces, too.  Even pictures that didn’t place.    Andrea’s photo of the joy on a child’s face while sledding was fun!  A lot goes in to making a great pic.  And we know as moms every photo of your child is fantastic!

Here are the details
Take some time to come up with a fun snow picture.  It can be a landscape or your kids sledding or the limbs of your trees bending under the weight of the snow.  Whatever.  Be creative.  Take some time to compose your image.  Post processing is allowed in Photoshop or whatever program you use.  HAVE FUN!  See our post on How To Take Great Snow Pictures if you need a little coaching.

Then go to our Portraits Today Studios facebook page.  Post your image there and then share it with all your friends and family members.  Ask them to vote!!!  (They can leave a comment or hit “like” and we’ll count that as a vote.  They may need to “Like” our page before they can do that, though.)

Judging
The 2 highest vote getters will automatically be eligible for one of our Snow Photo Contest prizes.  So get your friends to vote!  There will be two other prizes given to the photos that we feel best represent a Kansas (or Missouri) snow day.

Prizes
First prize is going to be a $50.00 Gift Certificate to Portraits Today Studios to be used towards any portrait package of your choice or towards our Digital Photography Classes or one-hour photo lab services.

Olathe Chick-fil-A Father Son Camp-out

Portraits Today Studios will be there throughout various times of the camp out to photograph the happenings.  It should be a lot of fun.  And it’s been rumored there will be some Chick-fil-A corporate big wigs there.  I won’t spill all the beans.   I’ll leave that to Olathe’s Chick-fil-A to give the details should they choose to do so.  But is should be fun.

If you know someone that would love to go to the Father Son Camp-out you may want to forward this along to them.  They’ll be glad you did.

As many of you know we occasionally like to post fun things to do around Kansas City here at Portraits Today Studios.com.  Kids will love going to the Monarch Watch Open House on the West Campus of the University of Kansas.

As for Chris and his family, owners of our studios, they have helped by building a Monarch Weigh Station.  Go check it out.  You can have fun, beautify your yard, help save the Monarch Butterfly and keep the kids fascinated all at the same time.

11-3 Texas Roadhouse, Olathe, Kansas – Portraits Today Studios will be photographing kids in their costumes at the Texas Roadhouse.  FREE 5x7s will be available to the little trick-or-treaters.  Texas Roadhouse will be doing a promotion as well which I believe is kids in costume eat free with accompanying parental meal.  (Check with them for the details.)

4-6 Chick-fil-A, Olathe, Kansas-  Chick-fil-A will be giving kids in costume a free kids meal with any accompanying parental meal and Portraits Today Studios will be taking pictures of the kids in costume and giving away a FREE 5×7 for each family. 

In each of the above cases a certificate good for one free 5×7 will be made available to all the kids we photograph.  You can bring that certificate in any time we are open over the next 60 days to our studios and you’ll receive a free 5×7.  No purchase necessary though extra copies will be made available to anyone that asks.  We just want you to know where we are and to keep us in mind for this holiday’s portrait season.  Tell your friends!

2-5 “Tweak the Treat” – Prairie Life Fitness in Olathe is allowing TCOY Wellness space to host a “Tweak the Treat” event wherein you can bring in your extra candy from Halloween to send over to our troops who have a sweet tooth.  Gift certificates from many local companies in and around Olathe will be there to say “thank you” for your support. 

November 13
5-9 Family Portrait Night at Chick-fil-A - You might want to hurry on this one.  With nearly no promotion I hear that there have been many reservations made, already.  We’ll be taking photos of customers who are there to eat and have made a reservation to get their photo taken.  Each family will receive a Free 5×7 that they can pick up from our portrait studios here in Olathe.  And you know we’ll make more copies and holiday cards available at our reasonable prices either online or in our studios.

November 13-15
2009 Kansas City “SPLASHDOWN”- Up in Gladstone, MO we’ve been asked to come in and give some quality service for this swim meet’s sports photography.  So if you have a little fish look for us up there.  And say “hello” because we’d love to meet you in person. 

November 26
Closed for Thanksgiving.  If you are having family/friends in town why not book now for your family portrait?  Last year Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving week were very busy.  So book early. 

December 24-25
Closing at 3:30 on Christmas Eve.  Closed Christmas Day.  May Peace be with you. 

Regarding our Current Portrait Specials be sure to check out that page.  Effective November 13 our $10.95 portrait special will only be available to those that make an additional purchase of a portrait sheet, portrait package or holiday cards.  Otherwise the package will $19.95 if there is no additional purchase.  (That’s still quite a deal!)
