Firefighter Portraits:  June 18

Princess & Fairy Portraits
We have a couple fun events coming up here at Portraits Today Studios.  Pictured here are some of the Princess and Fairy Portraits we made at last year’s inaugural event.  We love to make the little princesses in your life look beautiful and have fun.  We have a few princess outfits to choose from and, of course, you can wear your own.  We also have butterflies, tiaras and wands.  It’s a fun couple of days.

Firefighter Portraits
Pictured here is a portrait I pieced together from some work we are beginning to do on a really cool fire template.  We’ll be shooting the kids on a green screen so we can drop them in to a work that looks like they are fighting an actual fire.  It’s gonna be huge fun!  We’ll even use a little charcoal on the willing would-be firefighters to darken their cheeks and noses!  And of course, we’ll take some more serious style portraits.  The only thing we can really promise about these is that you will have fun, you will smile and you will love the memories we make.

Imagine little Johnny skipping rocks or dipping a bamboo cane fishing pole into the water.  Imagine how beautiful silly Sally will be holding a flower and dropping petals into the slow moving water.  This should be our most memorable outdoor portrait event ever!

April 30 and May 7
We will be hosting our Portraits in the Park Event this year on April 30 and May 7.  So plan ahead as times usually fill up briskly.  We will be hosting sessions in both the morning and afternoon hours of both days.

Each session will be  30 minutes per family to allow for extra creativity and candid picture opportunities.  But we do stack appointments one after the other so as to keep the costs down for everyone.  So don’t be late!

Costs and Reservation Details
There will be a $39.00 per family reservation/event fee due at the time of the reservation.  After the event fee of $39.00 is collected our standard portrait pricing kicks in.  See our portrait pricing and our very special Current Special that coincides nicely with this outdoor pictures event.

The reservation/event fee is fully refundable up to 72 hours before your scheduled appointment.  After that we will only offer an in-studio store credit.  Sorry.  But we purposefully do not overbook our appointments.  And we always appreciate how punctual and reliable our customers are!  Truly, you are the best.

This is an appointment you cannot register for online. All registrations for Portraits in the Park Spring ’11 must be done either in person at our photography studios in Olathe or by phone.

Here are the details
Take some time to come up with a fun snow picture.  It can be a landscape or your kids sledding or the limbs of your trees bending under the weight of the snow.  Whatever.  Be creative.  Take some time to compose your image.  Post processing is allowed in Photoshop or whatever program you use.  HAVE FUN!  See our post on How To Take Great Snow Pictures if you need a little coaching.

Then go to our Portraits Today Studios facebook page.  Post your image there and then share it with all your friends and family members.  Ask them to vote!!!  (They can leave a comment or hit “like” and we’ll count that as a vote.  They may need to “Like” our page before they can do that, though.)

Judging
The 2 highest vote getters will automatically be eligible for one of our Snow Photo Contest prizes.  So get your friends to vote!  There will be two other prizes given to the photos that we feel best represent a Kansas (or Missouri) snow day.

Prizes
First prize is going to be a $50.00 Gift Certificate to Portraits Today Studios to be used towards any portrait package of your choice or towards our Digital Photography Classes or one-hour photo lab services.

Second prize is going to be a $20.00 Gift Certificate.

Third prize is one Free Current Special.

Honorable Mention will be an offer to come to one of our Moms Camera Classes or $10.00 towards any Portraits Today Studios purchase.

All images must be posted to our facebook page by 1:00 pm on Friday, January 21. No exceptions.  Have fun.

Bedtime Stories with Santa Claus

Portraits Today Studios is happy to announce our Bedtime Stories with Santa Claus. An event designed to not only get you a portrait of your child (or children) with Santa Claus but to also create a memory that will last a lifetime.

Bedtime Stories with Santa Claus events start on Friday November 26.
Space is limited. Reservations required.

The evening includes;

Santa Claus himself greeting the children and reading a couple bedtime stories.
Milk or juice and some great chocolate chip cookies with Santa.
A small present from Santa.
A portrait sheet of your child/children with Santa Claus.
(Your choice of sheet. ie, 8×10 or 2 5x7s, etc.)
A memory that will last a lifetime!

THE DATE AND TIMES
Sessions start at 7:00 pm and run through to about 8:30 pm.

THE DETAILS
Reservations are required as we are limiting the amount of participants per session to make sure everyone has a good time and gets time with the man in red. Payment is required to hold your reservation. You may stop by our studios or call us with your credit card information to make your payment.

The fee includes the fun listed above. Additional portrait sheets will be available by request on the evening of your session.

11-3 Texas Roadhouse, Olathe, Kansas – Portraits Today Studios will be photographing kids in their costumes at the Texas Roadhouse.  FREE 5x7s will be available to the little trick-or-treaters.  Texas Roadhouse will be doing a promotion as well which I believe is kids in costume eat free with accompanying parental meal.  (Check with them for the details.)

4-6 Chick-fil-A, Olathe, Kansas-  Chick-fil-A will be giving kids in costume a free kids meal with any accompanying parental meal and Portraits Today Studios will be taking pictures of the kids in costume and giving away a FREE 5×7 for each family. 

In each of the above cases a certificate good for one free 5×7 will be made available to all the kids we photograph.  You can bring that certificate in any time we are open over the next 60 days to our studios and you’ll receive a free 5×7.  No purchase necessary though extra copies will be made available to anyone that asks.  We just want you to know where we are and to keep us in mind for this holiday’s portrait season.  Tell your friends!

2-5 “Tweak the Treat” – Prairie Life Fitness in Olathe is allowing TCOY Wellness space to host a “Tweak the Treat” event wherein you can bring in your extra candy from Halloween to send over to our troops who have a sweet tooth.  Gift certificates from many local companies in and around Olathe will be there to say “thank you” for your support. 

November 13
5-9 Family Portrait Night at Chick-fil-A - You might want to hurry on this one.  With nearly no promotion I hear that there have been many reservations made, already.  We’ll be taking photos of customers who are there to eat and have made a reservation to get their photo taken.  Each family will receive a Free 5×7 that they can pick up from our portrait studios here in Olathe.  And you know we’ll make more copies and holiday cards available at our reasonable prices either online or in our studios.

November 13-15
2009 Kansas City “SPLASHDOWN”- Up in Gladstone, MO we’ve been asked to come in and give some quality service for this swim meet’s sports photography.  So if you have a little fish look for us up there.  And say “hello” because we’d love to meet you in person. 

November 26
Closed for Thanksgiving.  If you are having family/friends in town why not book now for your family portrait?  Last year Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving week were very busy.  So book early. 

December 24-25
Closing at 3:30 on Christmas Eve.  Closed Christmas Day.  May Peace be with you. 

Regarding our Current Portrait Specials be sure to check out that page.  Effective November 13 our $10.95 portrait special will only be available to those that make an additional purchase of a portrait sheet, portrait package or holiday cards.  Otherwise the package will $19.95 if there is no additional purchase.  (That’s still quite a deal!)

But don’t forget, on Halloween Portraits Today Studios will be taking October 31st Portraits at the Texas Roadhouse from noon till 2:00 and at Chick-fil-A from 4:00 till 6:00 pm.  We will be giving away free 5×7′s to the little spooks and goblins while Texas Roadhouse will be giving away coupons for free appetizers and Chick-fil-A will be giving away free chicken sandwiches to the kids in costume.  So mark your calendars.  And yes, we will sell extra copies of the photos to anyone who wants some.

The other holidays coming up, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Christmas, are high demand times here at Portraits Today Studios.  So book early.  Especially if you will be having relatives in around the Thanksgiving holiday.  That’s a crazy time for us and we already have quite a few bookings for that Friday and Saturday.  Time slots will go fast.
