When we are outside we have to watch the light a little better. I was literally moving her forward an inch, to the side half an inch, etc. Some light dappling is okay. But sometimes, oftentimes, it can be annoying. So watch out for that in your home pictures. When you come to Portraits Today Studios, we’ll watch out for you.
One of my favorite aspects about this very simple portrait (aside from the fact that I love the woman in it!) is that by blurring out the background we get lots of cool background while keeping the focus completely on Marie. If you are shooting at home you might accomplish this on your point-and-shoot cameras by turning your camera’s dial to the little head. Use the mountains dial setting if you want everything from close to far to be in focus. Get the idea?
