Variety. I love it. One day I’m shooting photos of newborns. And in the very same day I can be shooting engagement photographs for these two love birds. For these two we went on out to Heritage Park and had a little fun in a few different places I have scoped out. It was hot. And I do mean hot!
In order to make it look like they weren’t sweating all over themselves I did have to spend a little time on the computer evening out the reflections from the perspiration. Now the bride-to-be was obviously not the big part of the problem. It’s always the groom. Always the groom. 
In all seriousness, these two were a lot of fun to work with and I believe they were genuinely happy with their results. They were referred by friends of Portraits Today Studios. For that we are grateful.

Today I was going to bring you more cute photos taken over last weekend of babies and children. But decided I would show you this photo of a young man from Olathe who needed some actor head shots because he is auditioning for High School Musical 4. Now, my eleven year old just had to rush up and get his autograph in case he made the cut!
He’s a good young man. Sixteen, actually. He’s following his dreams and here is to hoping he chases them with perseverance and tenacity. A dash of luck is always nice, too.

Awkward Family Photos
Sorry to say we don’t always come up with the ideas that lead to cute baby photography here in our Olathe studios. Sometimes, gosh darned it, it is you parents that come in with the cute ideas. And rather than poo-poo it we have learned to embrace any ideas you have. Check it out! This little guy has on a Pampered Chef hat and is on a baking sheet. His mom thought it would be cute. And we have to agree. In fact, I think I’ll be buying some props to go along with this. What do you think?

As I sit here writing this the rain is coming down horizontally. You Kansans know what I mean. Someone said there was golf-ball sized hail up in Lenexa. If it comes to Olathe I’ll have really cool pictures…and one very beat up MINI Cooper. That’s for sure.
And through this gloomy and stormy weather one brave soul actually stopped by to book an appointment. Seems she heard about us from a Angel Babies…thank you very much.
But anyway, I thought you might enjoy this photograph of this young lady we took portraits of last Thursday or Friday. (Sometimes my brain turns to mush and I cannot remember.) She’s just so cute I thought you’d like to see one of my favorite pictures from the photo session.

Sorry we haven’t posted in quite a few days. My wife and I escaped for a few days R&R in Austin, TX. It was a lot of fun and we got to scout out different photo studios down there, as well. But Tuesday we were back behind the cameras and ready to go.
Today this young lady came in ready to have her picture taken. Actually, we’ve photographed two little girls today so far that were less than shy. You’ll see the other young lady soon, I’m sure. This baby was in a good mood and ready to be photographed. Just look at the cute bows the mother had purchased at Angel Babies a few days back just for this occasion.
You’ll also be drawn to the photograph of mother and child. Not your standard pose, is it?
Moms, it is highly recommended that you come prepared for cameo performances in your child’s photo session. Now I realize this goes against the conventional wisdom of Portrait Sales 101 which clearly states do not waste time on pictures of the kids and mothers together because the mom won’t buy them. But I love these kinds of photos. Don’t you think this picture will be a great and positive memory for years and years to come?
Kids photography in Kansas City comes in many different forms. There are portrait artists that create magnificent works worth of art gallery presentations. There are the school photographer photographs that are done on assembly lines. And there is everything in between. We hear time and time again what a great value Portraits Today Studios is and from people that seem to be very pleased with their entire portrait session experience.
