  When you are trying to photograph your children may we recommend zoomed lenses and a since of “spy” from you? After all, children this age change when they see the camera. They get the “forced smile” or the “shyness” from nowhere. They want to take and use the camera rather than be it’s subject. But try something different. The next time your kids are at play around the house or school or the neighborhood park quietly take out your camera (point and shoot or DSLR, doesn’t matter) and zoom in as close as you can to them and shoot. Get up, walk around and maybe put your camera on the “head” setting. But don’t let them know you are there! Enlist the help of your spouse to keep their attention.  Find your Olathe City Championship baseball photos here. I have emailed your coach the password. Last night I had the privilege to photograph the Olathe City Championship baseball game between the Westside Sluggers and the Midwest Tornados. After a hard fought game by both teams the Tornados came away with the championship. But the info I got is that both teams had an outstanding season. Portraits Today Studios sponsors the Westside Sluggers baseball team and so we were there to provide professional sports photography to them for the Olathe championships. We all grow up loving baseball. I wish I had had a photographer take action photos of me that would spark memories all these years later. (One did when I was a soccer goalie. I was making a great stop and every time I see the photo it brings a smile to my face!)

no comments Senior Pictures are fun to produce. Why? Because of the variables involved. (Major digression coming.) When Garth Brooks was at the height of his fame he said he loved music because with a change here and there the song could take on a whole new meaning. Then he proceeded to play one of his hits with a completely new guitar riff and in a tempo I hadn’t heard before. Boom! The song had a different interpretation. The same can be said about photography. With the proliferation of good, low cost digital cameras literally anyone can snap a good picture. And with a little training with lights you can become a fairly decent photographer. But still, to come up with lasting, memorable images you have to be able to see things in your mind and then take those images from the mind to the paper. Look at these two senior pictures taken last week. This young lady is a very vibrant girl. But look how the story changes when we make two very different portraits from the same image.
