I have to say I am surprised by how much product photography we are doing here at Portraits Today Studios. But then, after doing some research, I found I shouldn’t be. It turns out there are many, many of you around Kansas City that own businesses wherein you sell products online. You sell clothes, flowers, etc. And you need web-ready product photography images that show your merchandise in the best light possible.
We do product photography here at Portraits Today Studios. Prices start as low as $15.00 an image with most images costing $25.00. We write the final images to a CD with a copyright release. Then you upload them and compete with the big boys.
So if you own your own online business or if you are looking to sell an item on ebay or craigslist you may want to consider our product photography services for Kansas City…and beyond. By beyond I mean that we accept shipped items.

It’s a dog’s life. Or it seems that way here at Portraits Today Studios. In the past thirty days we’ve done quite a bit of pet photography. And why not? People love their pets.
Below you will find some of the portraits we’ve been doing for pets recently. You will notice we’ve had a great many dogs. But where are the cats? People, we need some of you to bring in your cats, snakes, llamas and what not. (Okay, maybe we haven’t actually done a lot of llama photography. But we can dream, can’t we?

Welcome to the new year! Just wanted to let you know what we are doing here at Portraits Today Studios.
Our Hours
First, this is the last Sunday I’m scheduled to be here until next holiday season. So from this point forward in 2010 we are open BY APPOINTMENT on Sundays. Don’t get us wrong. We are happy to come in and serve your needs on Sunday. We just don’t want to be here if you are not going to be here. So if you want a Sunday appointment just give us a call and we are happy to get you scheduled.
Our Current Special
We here at Portraits Today Studios are currently reviewing our Current Special. Not sure when it will end, but I suspect around the end of January. Now we will come up with something else, I’m sure.
Our Health As A Small Business
Many, many of you inquire as to “how we are doing?” and we thank you for your sincere interest. Because of your positive word of mouth and constant brand building on our facebook page we have just begun our fifteenth month in business. November and December were the first two months we had the previous year to go by and I’m happy to announce that we experienced growth in both months. That’s not to say I’m heading to Cancun anytime soon. But the rent is paid and for that we are grateful.
We sincerely thank you all for your loyalty and positive word of mouth. I think we are putting together a pretty great staff here and are providing something pretty special to the Olathe community as well as to comers from Overland Park, Gardner, Spring Hill, Lenexa and other surrounding communities. Heck, we have folks drive in regularly from Baldwin, Grandview and even Northwest Missouri. Wow. We are flattered.
As we all work together to make a stronger economy in 2010 lets not forget some of the lessons we’ve learned in 2009. Simple pleasures can bring families closer together. We’ve learned to do without things we don’t necessarily really need. We’ve learned to be creative and adaptive.

For those of you on our emailing list you received an email yesterday announcing that on March 27th & April 3 Portraits Today Studios in Olathe, Kansas will be taking portraits of your children with live baby chickens and bunnies. I had no idea the excitement that would generate.
I realize we’re still a cold January, February and March away from March 27. But we have decided to go ahead and start taking the reservations since we’ve already had a few people book times. So if you’d like to book you or your children in for live baby chicks and bunnies portraits / pictures then go ahead and drop us an email or a phone call. We’ll be glad to reserve your time.
Now, about pricing. As usual we will not have a sitting fee. But buying and handling the chicks and bunnies will incur extra costs so we may have a minimum purchase of $30 – $35 or so. That hasn’t been worked out yet. But as always we’ll keep it as affordable as possible.
We plan on having a lot of fun those two days. The kids get a big kick out of it and handing out those photos to your family usually brings more than a few smiles.
And as just a teaser we will also be doing a special event for Valentine’s Day for the kids on February 6. For the mommies that would like to remind the daddies of how beautiful they are we will be having special Valentine’s Days/Nights photo sessions, as well. Allowing more time and care for those photos we’ve planned them for February 12 & 13.

Whew! You may have noticed we haven’t posted in a week or two. Been busy. And for that we want to thank all of you that have come in and spent your hard-earned dollars with Portraits Today Studios. We know there are other portrait studios in and around Olathe. You have choices. So we are grateful you chose to do business with us and we sincerely hope we didn’t let you down. Again, thanks.
Believe it or not, we still have openings to get your portraits so you can have them for the Christmas and Chanukah holidays. On Christmas Eve we will be closing at 4:00 pm…sharp! But that morning is still open. A couple of appointments remain for Tuesday and a few for Wednesday.

Last minute pictures and portraits are why Portraits Today Studios in Olathe, Kansas offers same day portrait services. We have a beautiful Noritsu printer that delivers your portraits to you the same day you order them…in most cases. Obviously, if you want extra touch up or if we have a major malfunction there may be some additional time necessary. But you get the drift.

So I’m sitting back here in the back of our professional photography studio and I’m asking myself why we don’t use our new fangled, professional Noritsu M300 printer to print the pictures our customers take for themselves. And I didn’t have an answer.
Today Portraits Today Studios is announcing our new PTS Lab Services for shutterbugs, everyday shooters, and even the professional photographer looking for a lab that will print the pictures that day just the way they want.
What we can do:
Fully customizable photo printing from photos sizes smaller than wallets all the way up to 10″ x 30″ in house. For specialty items like photo mugs, multi-page calendars and prints larger than 10″ x 30″ we can offer full outlab photo services with as quick a turn-around as anyone.
Want custom cropping? We can do that. Want borders? We can do that. Have special requests to remove a subject, fix some facial blemishes or whatever? Chances are we can do that.
Most orders can be completed in one hour.
What we cannot do:
Print 4×6s for only $0.19 each. This is not a loss leader for us. But we are being more than fair. Many professional photo labs charge much more than we do. Feel free to go to our PTS Lab Services page to get a break down of our pricing including 4×6s from $0.35 each to 8×10s for only $3.50 each.
